Praise You - Fatboy Slim

We are back in effect after a very fun, and very busy week! Last Wednesday we touched down to play a set at Aurora in Banff, ready to show the people still there for the end of ski season what was what. The night was a bit of a slower start, but before you could say "people dressed up like superheros" the club was rammed and we were ready to go. The decks at the club are at the front of the stage, leaving ample space for dancers, or friends to hang out...or for about 20 people to get absolutely nuts. You know you are focusing on your DJ'ing more than what is going on around you when you turn around and are SHOCKED to see that the stage has filled up with dancers, and they are either a)taking their shirts off b)have already taken their shirts off and are moving on to taking off their pants c)they are already stripped down to their skivvies d)they are making out very intensely or e) they are dressed like a superhero (yeah, that happened). Bitchin' FTW! Just to take it up another notch, the Banff'ers decided that when Mama Miche played the Riva Starr remix of Fatboy Slim's "Praise You", they would break into the entire dance routine made famous in the Spike Jonez video for the tune. And THEN we played Moombahton for a group of guys who came running in at the last minute and were going insane for the Dave Nada and DJ A-Mac edits.
Friday night we rolled into Edmonton just in time to catch the Foosh customer appreciation sale, getting ourselves some fresh new gear from the best store in the capital city. The Level 2 show was good, introducing us to some great people and DJ's from Edmonton, but was a little quieter than we'd hoped. We definitely made the best of it though, and had the people there dancing to disco house until late in the night.
Calgary of course is one of our fav places to play, because HiFi club is just that good. It's always nice to see friends and Calgary fam while we are in town. We were on after the bands on Saturday night, and brought the party from set start to set finish. The dance floor went from empty to full in a snap, and we took everyone through the Bitchin' set, mixing old favourites and giving them a taste of what we will be looking for in our summer music catalogue.
That's it for now....keep an eye out for Part 2 of 1mix, 1month.....it should be ready within two weeks!!

New Blog, New Mixes!!! THE START OF BITCHIN'S 'ONE MONTH, ONE MIX' SERIES!

Hello all! This is the new blog for Bitchin' Beats, and to help sort all of you out that have been waiting ever so patiently for some new tune-age from us, we are here to announce to start of our new Mix Series. Bitchin' has such an eclectic and ever changing style, that it seemed like the only way to properly show people what we can do is by constantly making mixes....of everything and anything that we find makes our booty shake or head nod.
To start it off with a bang, we have each made a new mix! Two for the price of none! Wicked!
Mama takes center stage first, with her "Bitchin': Live, March 2010" mix. Many of you probably already have this mix, as it was included on the Stirling Agency Mp3 C.D. that was making the rounds at WMC this year! A definite party starter, look for some favourite new tunes, as well as some from 2009 (Heads Will Roll, anyone?). You can grab it at Miche's new and lovely soundcloud page!
Kenzie's contribution to the team is through her new mix "Spring Ahead". Going back to some of her favourite styles to play, including tech house, disco house, and techno, Kenzie brings in the first signs that festival season is on it's way! Think sun, think sand, think SOUNDWAVE! You can get the mix here, and the tracklisting here.

Also, for those of you in Alberta, or close to it, Bitchin' is hitting Banff on Wednesday night (@Aurora), Edmonton on Friday night (@ Level 2), and Calgary on Saturday night (@Hifi club). Miche will have hard copies of her mix, which also includes some exclusive mixes from other artists on the Stirling Agency roster!

Ok, go!
